Game development is usually conducted in a casual environment. Many people find this type of workplace appealing. The downside is that this industry requires long working hours from its employees which many people view as unsustainable. An entry level programmer makes an average of $66,000 working for a medium to large sized company. An experienced game developer averages at a yearly income of $73,000. Video game development is also part of the entertainment industry which is also known for employee burnout. One of the main things in this industry that causes burnout is "crunch-time". Crunch time is when the development team is failing to achieve milestones in the game's production and they have to work up to 20 hours a day on the game. Companies like Electronic Arts (EA) have been accused of excessive invocation of crunch time.
